The Central German Metropolitan Region (Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland in German) is a metropolitan region in Germany, consisting of the cities: Chemnitz, Dresden, Leipzig and Zwickau in Saxony; Dessau-Roßlau, Halle and Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt; Erfurt, Gera, Jena and Weimar in Thuringia. The population is about 2,400,000 in 11 cities. [2]

The Central German Metropolitan Region is near Berlin, the capital city of Germany, and approximately 170 km north of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
